1. My inclination to writing online journals began in 2004. Friendster was still on top and they had this link where you can share stories and pictures and all the good stuff. Sad to say, Friendster is now history. I haven't opened my account for the past 4 years. Oh well, if you'd like to walk down the memory lane, you can still read old testimonials and if truth be told, I met my first love via Friendster. Waaaappppaaaaakkk!
2. After the fall of Friendster came Multiply. The site was an instant hit to the point where every yuppie in Manila has an account. Many promoted their goods, aspiring photographers used it in showcasing their early works, and of course we can blog. I entitled my blogsite Call Me a Dimwit But I Still Believe in Happy Endings which is also the title of my thesis in UP. I have posted around 10 entries in Multiply. And just like Friendster, Multiply faded when Facebook came into the scene.
3. Facebook was founded by Mark Elliot "Zuck" Zuckerberg with fellow classmates Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes while attending Harvard. Mark launched Facebook from his Harvard dormitory room on February 4, 2004. The site is more of a one-stop shop. You can post images, shoutouts, invites, and other whatnot. We can publish 'Notes' thru Facebook but I felt the need to have something really dedicated to blogging.
4. I then started scribbling on Wordpress. I still visit my account until now but I don't post blogs anymore. The reason I bid farewell to Wordpress was because an office colleague named Louis Andrew Dizon introduced me to Blogspot. He earns from blogging. Why not earn from something that you really like to do right? Sometimes Louis make sense.
After giving you a brief background on how I ended up with Blogspot, my plan is to post all my past blogs at this very site just to consolidate everything in one. I'm sure I have written some nice stuff way back and I guess it won't harm to share those narratives I wrote while I was drunk, or heartbroken, or high, or just plainly inspired. If you are also more of a critic or nagmamaganda lang, you'd somehow see the progression of my maturity level (charing!).
Welcome to Rantings of a Semikal Junkie!
